It's no secret our family really loves animals--especially our poochers Flint and Milo.

For more than five years we have remained close to the mission of the Lawrence Humane Society; and we have seen firsthand the life saving work that occurs at our local shelter when we adopted Milo last year. 

Our LHS team is some of the most dedicated individuals working to serve out our mission--however that alone is not enough to save more animals--we need a facility that will aide our team in this effort.

We are raising money to build a new building that will meet shelter best practices. With a new building we can: shorten animals' length of stay, provide greater medical care, support animal control, educate our residents on healthy pet ownership, offer low-cost services to the public, create a new community gathering space, and most importantly save more lives. We have a big challenge, but it's a challenge that is rooted in the best life possible for countless animals--It's For Them.

Every pet deserves a happy, healthy life. For more than 3,800 lost and homeless animals in our community each year, that chance begins at the Lawrence Humane Society.

The Lawrence Humane Society is a critically-needed local resource for Douglas County and Lawrence, but is being held back by limitations of an aging, inadequate, and failing facility that is long overdue for replacement. By building a new, state-of-the-art shelter facility, the benefits to both pets and people are clear: more lives will be saved; the number of homeless and abandoned animals will be reduced; and most importantly, families will be strengthened -- by having the space to find the right home for every pet, and by helping keep pets and people together for the long-haul.

We need the community's help to make this project a reality.
