If everyone could take time out of their day to donate some money to a shelter that is near and dear to my heart, I would greatly appreciate it. I had the honor of working for the Lawrence Humane Society for two years and also fostered for them numerous times. This new building is going to create a lot of opportunities for the shelter to further help our community and get more animals off the streets. LHS is the sole reason my dogs are microchipped because they offer low cost microchipping clinics to the public. They also held a vaccine clinic for the canine influenza, which my dogs wouldn't have gotten if they didn't offer it! So please, think of all the homeless animals in Lawrence and think about how this knew building will further impact our community. I'm not asking you to donate a lot, a dollar would be great. All it'd take to reach our goal would be for 250 people to donate one dollar. Think of my two dogs who are microchipped, vaccinated against the canine influenza, and would have a safe place to go to if they ever run off all thanks to the Lawrence Humane Society!

Every pet deserves a happy, healthy life. For more than 3,800 lost and homeless animals in our community each year, that chance begins at the Lawrence Humane Society.

The Lawrence Humane Society is a critically-needed local resource for Douglas County and Lawrence, but is being held back by limitations of an aging, inadequate, and failing facility that is long overdue for replacement. By building a new, state-of-the-art shelter facility, the benefits to both pets and people are clear: more lives will be saved; the number of homeless and abandoned animals will be reduced; and most importantly, families will be strengthened -- by having the space to find the right home for every pet, and by helping keep pets and people together for the long-haul.

We need the community's help to make this project a reality.
