Look At Those Adorable Hellions!

Even though they have caused me more grief than I ever expected, they are mine, all mine, and I love them dearly and wouldn't have it any other way!

Kenny and Hazel were at the Lawrence Humane Society for almost three weeks before they came to live with me at Beagle Camp (Damn Walter was also adopted from LHS eight years ago).  This organization is near and dear to my heart and it does everything it can to get homeless pets adopted into loving homes (for instance, both Hellions each received dentals at LHS, in addition to Kenny's neuter surgery - a definite budget help).  However, the LHS facility is definitely aging and desperately needs to be replaced to provide more and better animal-friendly spaces for these great pets in transition, as well as the wonderful staff that cares for them.

The current LHS Capital Campaign is soooo close to reaching its goal to replace the old facility with a brand new, state-of-the-art one that will help animals in need in Douglas County, as well as the rest of the state (animals from over-crowded shelters are often transferred to LHS since it has such a great placement record).  In addition to donating to the shelter monthly, I am making an additional special donation to the campaign.  If you are so inclined, no amount is too small to donate. You may make a donation yourself directly to the campaign, or you may also make one through this fundraising page.

Thank you for Helping More Hellions!

ABOUT FOR THEM Social Fundraising Campaign

Every pet deserves a happy, healthy life. For more than 3,800 lost and homeless animals in our community each year, that chance begins at the Lawrence Humane Society.

The Lawrence Humane Society is a critically-needed local resource for Douglas County and Lawrence, but is being held back by limitations of an aging, inadequate, and failing facility that is long overdue for replacement. By building a new, state-of-the-art shelter facility, the benefits to both pets and people are clear: more lives will be saved; the number of homeless and abandoned animals will be reduced; and most importantly, families will be strengthened -- by having the space to find the right home for every pet, and by helping keep pets and people together for the long-haul.

We need the community's help to make this project a reality.

Whether you can chip in $5 or $5,000, every dollar will make a difference to the thousands of animals that will receive care, life-saving medical treatment, and love in our new facility. Donate now or become a fundraiser to help us reach our $7.5 million fundraising goal by the end of 2017.
